FLATLAND CAVALRY GETS REAL ABOUT THE ROAD LIFE ON SOUL-SEARCHING NEW SINGLE “GONE”

Acclaimed country-roots six-piece Flatland Cavalry returns with their soul-searching new single “Gone.” Accompanied by a lyric video, “Gone” marks the Texas-bred band’s first release since signing with the newly relaunched Lost Highway Records.

One of their first releases since 2024’s Flatland Forever (a critically lauded compilation featuring some of their most beloved songs to date), “Gone” ushers in a bold new era for Flatland Cavalry: Cleto Cordero (vocals, acoustic guitar), Jason Albers (drums, percussion), Jonathan Saenz (bass), Reid Dillon (electric guitar), Wesley Hall (fiddle), and Adam Gallegos (piano, organ, keys, mandolin, banjo). Arriving just ahead of their headline show at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre next Monday (October 20), “Gone” finds the band looking back on their decade-plus journey of nonstop touring.

“Since our last show of the tour is at Red Rocks, it felt right to utilize the moment by tipping our hats to where all we’ve been, and to tee up what’s to come next — I could just imagine singing that line ‘Chased them clouds in Colorado’ and all the folks cheering along,” says Cordero. “We recorded a batch of songs earlier this year, and ‘Gone’ was the first because it was closest to my heart as we transitioned from being gone for a month to being straight into the studio. I feel like a piece of you gets woven into the mix, and when I listen to the recording of that song, I feel the soul of a man that’s been away for the last 10 years.”

Produced by Dwight Baker, “Gone” arrives as a riveting piece of storytelling from a band hailed by Rolling Stone as “one of the most dynamic presences in country music.” In a shining example of Flatland Cavalry’s signature “Easy on the ears, heavy on the heart” sound, the midtempo tune unfolds in wistful fiddle melodies and warm guitar tones as Cordero begins to spin a gritty but quietly triumphant portrait of a life lived on the road (“Well, I got drunk with buds in Dublin/I’ve been sober in October/Wandered through the darkness/Stuck around to greet the dawn”). At its heart-stirring chorus, “Gone” inhabits a tender intensity as Flatland Cavalry speaks to the emotional toll of endless vagabonding (“Living out an outlaw cowboy song/It’s a heavy price to pay/I’ll make light of it someday/With a tale to tell for each one/I’ve been gone”).

Co-written by Cordero, Ryan Beaver (Luke Bryan, Parker McCollum), and Aaron Eshuis (Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts), “Gone” takes on a potent energy at the second verse, threading its confessional self-reflection with a bit of quick-witted poetry (“In my mind I’m just a drifter/A traveler, a visitor/Turning over miles, turning pages, turning stones/Spurring late-night conversation/Otherworldly observations/By the time I make some sense of it/I’ll be moving on”). After tearing through an entrancing instrumental section graced with Dillon’s fiery guitar work, Flatland Cavalry builds to a piano-led bridge that brings the story to a powerful crescendo: “And when they call my number/To the Gatherin’ of Goners/I’ll wear my rambler’s smile with honor/And waltz into the Great Beyond.”

Last month, Flatland Cavalry released “Midland After Midnight,” a timelessly romantic track featured on Landman – Songs From and Inspired by the Paramount+ Original Series (Volume I). The official soundtrack to the hit series (a modern tale of fortune-seeking amongst roughnecks and billionaires in the world of oil, starring Billy Bob Thornton, Ali Larter, Michael Peña, Jon Hamm, and Demi Moore), the compilation also includes songs by Parker McCollum, Ella Langley, Red Clay Strays, George Strait ft. Chris Stapleton, and more.

With support from Kaitlin Butts and Angel White, Flatland Cavalry’s forthcoming Red Rocks show will serve as the last stop on a major headline run that’s also included a sold-out performance at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, TX. Flatland Cavalry will be joining Lainey Wilson’s Whirlwind World Tour as a special guest in Australia and New Zealand in February 2026.

In another career highlight for Flatland Cavalry, last Thursday marked the premiere of Flatland Forever: A Texas Tech Story — a first-of-its-kind documentary chronicling the band’s early days and their roots at Texas Tech University, where Cordero, Dillon, Gallegos, and Albers all studied. Visit Texas Tech’s official YouTube account to watch Flatland Forever: A Texas Tech Story now. Along with the documentary premiere, the band was inducted in the West Texas Walk of Fame.

Over the past two years alone, Flatland Cavalry has achieved a number of major milestones, such as garnering their first ACM Award nomination (in the category of Group of the Year) and earning their first RIAA Gold certification (for their breakout single “A Life Where We Work Out”). In an auspicious start to their new chapter, the band’s signing to Lost Highway Records finds them joining the ranks of culture-shifting acts who’ve called the label home, including Kacey Musgraves, Willie Nelson, Lucinda Williams, Robert Earl Keen, and many more. More new music from Flatland Cavalry is on the way soon.

ABOUT FLATLAND CAVALRY

TY HERNDON RELEASES THIRTY, VOL. 1 – CELEBRATING THREE DECADES OF COUNTRY HITS

Groundbreaking country artist Ty Herndon has officially released THIRTY, Vol. 1, the first installment of his highly anticipated double album project. The eight-track collection, available here, commemorates Herndon’s three decades in country music with fresh renditions of his biggest hits and fan favorites, each reimagined as a duet with powerhouse collaborators across genres. Ahead of the album drop, Herndon released singles with LeAnn Rimes, Ashley McBryde, Michael Ray, and Chrissy Metz.

Among the standout moments debuting for the first time with the release of THIRTY, Vol. 1 is a reimagined version of Herndon’s 1995 hit, “Heart Half Empty,” a soaring new duet featuring Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth.

Originally recorded as a duet with Stephanie Bentley, the Gary Burr and Desmond Child–penned ballad became a Top 20 hit on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart and remains one of the most beloved tracks from Herndon’s platinum-selling debut album What Mattered Most. Nearly three decades later, Herndon and Chenoweth breathe new life into the timeless classic, blending Broadway brilliance and country soul to create a version that honors the song’s legacy while introducing it to a new generation of listeners.

“Heart Half Empty has always been one of those songs that just sticks with you. From the very first time I recorded it, I knew it was something special—for me, and for so many fans who’ve told me what it’s meant in their own lives,” said Herndon. “When it came time to bring it back for this project, I couldn’t think of anyone better than Kristin Chenoweth. She’s got a voice straight from heaven and a heart to match, and the way she poured herself into this song brought out a whole new kind of magic I’ll cherish forever.”

THIRTY, Vol. 1 honors Herndon’s career, beginning with his chart-topping 1995 debut What Mattered Most and revisits signature songs along with “missed hits”—tracks he has long believed deserved their moment in the spotlight.

Herndon recreated “I’d Move Heaven and Earth” from his 2002 album This is Ty Herndon with rising country music superstar Brooke Eden, and is joined by his own husband, Alex Schwartz, for a reimagining of the title track to his 1998 hit album Big Hopes.

“This album is truly a celebration of the last 30 years of my life and career,” said Herndon. “To revisit these songs—some that defined me and others that I always wished had their moment-with such an incredible group of friends and artists is the honor of a lifetime. THIRTY is about honoring where I’ve been while also looking ahead with gratitude and hope. We’re already at work on Volume 2, and I can’t wait for folks to hear the next chapter.”

Produced with a modern edge while preserving the timeless heart of Herndon’s hits, THIRTY, Vol. 1 sets the stage for THIRTY, Vol. 2, slated for release in 2026. Together, the double album will showcase not only Herndon’s enduring artistry but also his influence on a generation of country music fans and artists alike.

THIRTY, Vol. 1, is on all major streaming platforms and digital retailers. Herndon’s memoir, What Mattered Most, will be released March 31, 2026, on Dey Street Books.

Released to overwhelming attention from fans and critics alike, “Somewhere Over Laredo” was the most added song at country radio at impact and earned widespread praise from outlets such as CBS Mornings, Rolling Stone and Billboard, who called it “one of her most commanding, dynamic vocal performances to date, crescendo-ing from a soft-focus, tender vocal, before gradually reaching into her upper register for powerful moments that heighten the song’s emotional acuity.”

“The reigning current standard-bearer for women in country” (Variety), Wilson also won four awards at the 60th ACM Awards this past spring—Entertainer of the Year (her second consecutive win), Female Artist of the Year (her third consecutive win), Album of the Year (Whirlwind) and Artist-Songwriter of the Year—performed during last year’s Dallas Cowboys’ Thanksgiving Halftime Show and won two awards at the 58th CMA Awards, where she made her hosting debut alongside Peyton Manning and Luke Bryan. CHRIS YOUNG COUNTS DOWN TO HIS 10th ALBUM — I DIDN’T COME HERE TO LEAVE — AVAILABLE OCTOBER 17

I Didn’t Come Here To Leave, the tenth album from multi-platinum artist Chris Young, marks the start of a new chapter for the global entertainer. With the release of his tenth album, and first with Black River Entertainment, Young has “cemented himself as one of the genre’s most recognizable talents” (Country Now). Friday’s album release also coincides with the 8th anniversary of Young’s induction into the exclusive membership of the Grand Ole Opry.

Now, after a million miles of highway and countless milestones — the prolific hitmaker boasts 14 No. 1 singles and 9 Billion+ streams, membership in the Opry, along with numerous CMT Awards and ACM, AMA, CMA and GRAMMY nominations to his credit, writing and co-producing much of the work behind his 54 RIAA certifications — Young’s bold tenth album proves he isn’t going anywhere, and is still going all in.

Praised as “one of the genre’s most beloved performers,” (Men’s Journal) each of the 14 songs on Young’s upcoming album, I Didn’t Come Here To Leave, captures another essential element of a country life, expressed through equal measures of good-timing energy, and graceful grit. Young first teased the new project with the “romantic, wedding-worthy” (iHeartCountry) lead single, “Til The Last One Dies” currently rising on the country radio and streaming charts.

“I genuinely think this is one of my favorite things I’ve ever made,” shares Young. “That’s not just talk—I’m really proud of this album. Even if it doesn’t land with everyone, I know what it means to me. But honestly, I do think people are going to feel it. It’s that special.”

Next month, Young will launch his first-ever holiday tour – “It Must Be Christmas – An Acoustic Evening with Chris Young.” The intimate shows will feature Young performing a mix of holiday songs and fan-favorite hits. Tickets for the 15-date headlining shows with special guest MaRynn Taylor are on sale now at chrisyoungcountry.com/tour.

ABOUT CHRIS YOUNG:
One of Billboard’s top country artists of the decade, the prolific hitmaker boasts 14 No. 1 singles and 9 Billion+ streams; an unbroken streak of success built on songs that balance country roots with a modern edge—and connect through real feeling. A member of the historic Grand Ole Opry, global arena headliner, and creative force of nature, the CMT Award winner and ACM, AMA, CMA and GRAMMY nominee has written and co-produced much of the work behind his 54 RIAA certifications, boasting a career which bridges multiple phases of country expression. But in joining Black River Entertainment as his new label home, the seasoned entertainer named “one of his era’s finest traditionalists” by the Associated Press feels refreshed, bringing his much-loved style into the future. His bold tenth album—I Didn’t Come Here To Leave—kicks off the Tennessee native’s next act. The record’s 14 fresh songs, including 11 co-writes, mark the start of a new chapter as Young hits a new stride. Re-centering his foundation of timeless romance, while embracing the energy of his legendary live shows (and bringing his deep vocal rumble “back to my baritone roots”), the set represents the most complete cross-section of his creative vision – maybe ever – and the highest level of craftsmanship in Young’s remarkable career. Also co-producing alongside Andy Sheridan (Rascal Flatts, Avery Anna), the star’s keen country instincts take center stage as he ticks off multiple bucket-list boxes. Passionate attention to detail was poured over every syllable of every lyric, and with the old-school recording dynamic found only in a live studio band, the vivid result acts like Young’s career itself – a connecting point between the glory days of country’s past, and the exhilarating ecstasy of a new dawn. “It’s wild to step back and see a really long list of things I’ve gotten to do already. … But I didn’t come here to leave.”

CBS UNVEILS ‘THE ROAD,’ A GRITTY NEW COUNTRY MUSIC COMPETITION WITH BLAKE SHELTON AND KEITH URBAN

The music competition landscape is getting a dose of reality as CBS prepares to debut its new docu-follow series, The Road. The show, a stark and unpolished look at the life of a touring country musician, premieres Sunday, October 19, on the CBS Television Network.

Created by executive producers Blake Shelton and Taylor Sheridan, The Road is a departure from traditional “shiny floor” singing shows. Instead of performing on sound stages, 12 emerging artists will serve as opening acts for headliner and executive producer Keith Urban at real music venues across America. The contestants will have to win over live audiences with their original music to advance to the next city on the tour, with the audience acting as the ultimate judge.

“This isn’t another shiny stage show where people just belt out cover songs,” said Shelton, a long-time veteran of the genre. “You’ll see the great moments, but you’ll also see the downtime, the homesickness, the nights where a crowd in Texas loves you and the next night in Memphis they walk out on you. That’s the reality of chasing this dream.”

The series, also executive produced by Keith Urban, David Glasser, and Lee Metzger, features Grammy Award winner Gretchen Wilson as a “tour manager” who will guide the artists on their journey. Guests from the country music world, including Jordan Davis, Karen Fairchild, Dustin Lynch, and Brothers Osborne, are also confirmed to appear as advisors.

In his own statement, Urban highlighted the show’s focus on real-world touring. “This show is all about being on the road,” he stated. “I don’t think it’s a job. I think it’s a calling.”

The winner of the season will receive a grand prize that includes a record contract and $250,000. The Road will air Sundays at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS and will be available to stream on Paramount+.
