Pre-order/Pre-save now at https://CY.lnk.to/FamousFriends

Multi-platinum entertainer Chris Young and global entertainer Kane Brown have topped the Mediabase country radio chart this week with their hit song, Famous Friends.” The feat marks Chris’s 12th career No.1 single and the 6th for his RCA Records Nashville labelmate, Kane.

On learning the news, Chris shared to socials: “Finding out you have the number one song in Country Music is such a crazy feeling. My career started with a #37 #52 #37 in that order. If you had asked me if I ever thought I’d be celebrating my 12th number one… just wow… no words. @kanebrown_music so proud to share this one with you brother! Thank you to anyone reading this, @coreycrowder @carybarlowe (my co-writers and CC is my coproducer) , and all of Country Radio for sending this one to the top!!! #FamousFriends  #numberone.”

Written by Chris with Cary Barlowe and Corey Crowder from a headline tour stop in Tampa in 2018, the autobiographical song mentions Rutherford County, where Chris grew up in Tennessee, and Kane’s hometown of Hamilton County along with Nashville’s Davidson County – a.k.a. Music City. In addition to the Mediabase No. 1 this week for “Famous Friends,” the song took home the trophy for Collaborative Video of the Year at the CMT Music Awards and is already a No. 1 smash on SiriusXM’s The Highway, Music Row’s CountryBreakout radio chart and a 3-week No. 1 on Canadian country radio.

An anthemic tribute to the names, faces, and legendary stories that make up each hometown, “Famous Friends” is Chris and Kane’s first collaboration since working together on Kane’s 2017 song “Setting the Night On Fire.” Additionally, the song reunites the former tour mates from Chris’s 2018 Losing Sleep Headlining Tour — which included a sold-out hometown show at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena — and is a full-circle moment since Kane’s first live concert experience as a young Country fan was a Brad Paisley and Chris Young tour stop.

With nearly five billion career streams in addition to his twelve No. 1 singles, Chris is also getting ready to release his highly anticipated 8th studio album – Famous Friends – on August 6.  Led by the chart-topping title track with Kane Brown, the 14-song project features several more of Chris’s famous friends, including collaborations with Lauren Alaina and Mitchell Tenpenny, plus background vocals from Sarah Buxton and Hillary LindseyChris Young’s upcoming Famous Friends album is available at https://CY.lnk.to/FamousFriends and starting this Friday, you can listen to new song “One Of Them Nights” when you pre-order/pre-save the record.

WANDA JACKSON GIVES HER ENCORE AUGUST 20

Rockabilly Queen Enlists Fellow Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Joan Jett and Kenny Laguna for Final Project, Featuring Elle King and Angaleena Presley

1962’s “It Keeps Right On A Hurtin’” Teases Fans Today, But There’s Much More Ahead

The most core-shaking female to ever hit a stage returns with a vengeance! WANDA JACKSON, Rock & Roll, International Gospel and Rockabilly Hall of Famer, teams with fellow Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Joan Jett and Kenny Laguna to conceptualize ENCORE (out August 20 via Big Machine Records/Blackheart Records). ENCORE is rooted in the belief that the pure Rock & Roll that Wanda pioneered, has lived in Jett’s modern version of agency, independence and audacious self-expression that has been taboo for women in music. Jackson’s 32nd album is a final chapter amplifying a career that’s ignited others too, from the Cramps to Amy Winehouse, Adele to Jack White, who produced her 2009 critic’s favorite THE PARTY AIN’T OVER.

“Right around the time I retired from performing and what I thought was the end of my career, I found myself back to writing songs with some of the great writers in Nashville. The songs you hear are truly my life story. This is the first time I have ever inserted so much of my personal life into my music. You’ll get a picture of my early life and have a peak into the closeness that my late husband Wendell and I had in our life together. I’m happy to share this with all of you. Your constant love and support has seen me through the ups and downs of my 64-year career. I love you all and God bless you,” shared Jackson.

Marked by Jackson’s incandescent swagger and effervescence, ENCORE is an in-your-face sonic experience that walks listeners through the Rockabilly, Country and even Punk colors of one of music’s most thrilling vocalists. That growl in her voice and full-tilt femmepower in her songs, it’s no wonder throw down rocker/writers Elle King and Angaleena Presley join Jett to ramp up the bravado and the fun.

Recorded just before announcing her retirement, Jackson’s signature tease and straight up no-nonsense delivers a resounding thump on the choogling taunt “Big Baby.” She’s saucy and snarling on the jaunty “Can’t Keep A Good Girl Down” featuring Presley and Candi Carpenter and wide open on Jett’s garage grunge come on “You Drive Me Wild,” as well offering clear-eyed tenderness on the classic balladry on ENCOREs closing “That’s What Love Is.”

“Real, authentic rock and roll is something you have to have inside. It can’t be taught, it can’t be faked. Wanda Jackson has it. Joan Jett has it. ENCORE has it. It is rare,” said Laguna.

The bodacious vocalist known for “Hot Dog! That Made Him Mad;” “Mean, Mean Man;” “Fujiyama Mama” and “Let’s Have A Party” writes half of ENCORE’s songs, with a coterie of writers including triple Grammy Awards winner Lori McKenna, ACM/CMA/Grammy nominees Will Hoge and Luke Laird, Presley, plus Bluegrass queen Sonia Leigh. Timeless, classic, forward-tilting, Jackson is still teaching the kids how it’s done.

To give fans a taste of the set, the vintage Country of Johnny Tillotson’s 1962 Rhythm & Blues smash “It Keeps Right On A Hurtin’,” arrives today, June 25. The sweeping stroll embodies the Hargus “Pig” Robbins Country that captivated jukeboxes throughout the ‘60s; most notably re-recorded by Elvis Presley on his 1969 FROM ELVIS IN MEMPHIS.

Whether the feral Funk “Treat Me Like A Lady” with its time changes – featuring both Jackson’s grit and soft as silk approaches – or the giddyup Rockabilly of “Two Shots” – matching her with King and Jett – the diminutive dark-haired vixen remains every bit as sultry and in charge as ever. Hearing women tell it not just like it is, but how it’s going to be, has defined Jackson. For seven decades she has made fringe sing, bodies swing and the mind do untold things.

NAOMI JUDD INDUCTED INTO WOMEN SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME

The Women Songwriters Hall of Fame inducted country music icon and GRAMMY® winning songwriter Naomi Judd during its first ceremony at the National Museum of Women in the Arts. The event paid homage to women whose body of work represents the best of heritage and legacy of modern American music.

“It’s always gratifying when someone acknowledges your best efforts. I love expressing my deepest feelings as I did in writing ‘Love Can Build A Bridge.’ Not only was I being celebrated at this auspicious event in Washington, D.C., I was among other accomplished songwriters. It was fun to reconnect with Valerie Simpson of Ashford & Simpson fame. We met years ago. A good time was had by all!” Naomi Judd shared.

Judd joined other inaugural inductees, including Valerie Simpson, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Roberta Flack, Tawatha Agee, Klymaxx, Deniece Williams, Jeri Keever “Bunny” Hull and Veryl Howard.

Recently, Judd acted and starred in Lifetime’s V.C. Andrews’ Ruby, a four-party movie series that followed Ruby Landry, who after being raised by her loving spiritual healer grandmother (Judd) in the Louisiana bayou, is ensnared in a world of dark family secrets and betrayal, upon discovering that she has another family living in New Orleans.

Naomi Judd is a six-time GRAMMY®, nine-time CMA and seven-time ACM Award-winning singer, songwriter, actress, philanthropist, author and public speaker, whose life and career continues to inspire dreamers today. Naomi and her daughter Wynonna brought a fresh acoustic sound to country music, with unmistakable harmonies as The Judds surrounding Wynonna’s powerful lead vocals. The Judds are often celebrated for a rarely-interrupted stretch of 14 No. 1 hits when every single of theirs released by RCA Nashville/Curb landed in the Billboard Top 10; and a career that defined what it means to be individualists in the music business. The Judds dominated touring with 20 Top 10 hits, have sold more than 20 million albums and blazed a trail for duos and women who have followed them. Hailing from the Appalachian foothills of Ashland, Ky., mother and daughter duo The Judds were discovered by RCA Nashville label head Joe Galante in 1983, after they landed a guest spot on WSM-TV’s Ralph Emery Show. The Judds made their Billboard country chart debut at the end of that year, with “Had a Dream (for the Heart),” and they were on their way to a history-making career. In 1991 when Naomi’s diagnosis of hepatitis C forced her to retire from the road, The Judds embarked on a historic farewell tour with Garth Brooks as an opening act. Naomi focused on her health, beating the disease and wrote several New York Times Best Sellers and became a popular motivational speaker and actress. To this day, their enduring legacy has inspired their peers, as well as established and aspiring artists. The Judds broke the mold for what it means to be an entertainment titan and remain one of the most successful acts in the history of the country music format. In 2022, The Judds will receive a star on the world’s most famous walkway, The Hollywood Walk of Fame.

As part of that process, nominees in those categories are not announced.

The new group will be among those honored at the “50/51” Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala on Monday, November 1, 2021, at the Music City Center alongside the organization’s previously named Class of 2020: Steve Earle, Bobbie Gentry, Kent Blazy, Brett James and Spooner Oldham.

“We were forced to postpone our 50th Anniversary celebration last year, so this will be our ‘50/51’ party—celebrating two years and two classes in a special double-sized event,” says NaSHOF Executive Director Mark Ford. “We congratulate all of this year’s nominees and look forward to next month, when we will announce those who will be inducted as members of the Class of 2021.”
