LILLY WINWOOD RETURNS WITH A RENEWED PURPOSE ON TALKING WALLS

New album out now; Winwood’s tour continues on Sept. 7 in Rocky Mount, VA
Lilly Winwood’s new album Talking Walls beautifully captures a tumultuous period over the last couple of years; universally and, especially, personally. Like a lot of her performing songwriter compatriots, Winwood found herself working hard to pay the bills during that uncertain time in the music industry. “I’d be working in a restaurant all day and then at night, come 3 a.m., I’d be pulling half-written songs out of my apron,” she recalls. But through it all, Winwood never stopped writing.
Talking Walls—out now—looks back on that era gracefully and groovily, finding Winwood literally “talking to the walls” as she looks inward with new purpose. Penned over those long sleepless nights, with clear eyes and a willingness to ask tough questions, each song takes a different tack into the introspective wind—all backed by a minimalist-roots sound. The now East Nashville-based artist (and daughter of Grammy-winning British rocker Steve Winwood) simply wrote her story and brought it to her band at Nashville’s Trace Horse studio—no producer needed. The result is a stunning, musical look inside the mind of an open, honest songwriter just trying to make it through to the other side.
Fans can purchase or stream Talking Walls today at this link, and don’t forget to check out the music videos for “Keep It Spinning” and “Sleep Issues.” A list of Winwood’s tour dates can be found below or at lillywinwood.org/shows.

DARE RECORDS SIGN BRANDON WHITLEY

Georgia Native To Deliver New Music This Fall; “Whiskey In Me” Out Sept. 16

Brandon Whitley has signed to DARE Records, helmed by CEO and Founder (and GRAMMY-winning producer) Michael-Anthony “Mooki” Taylor. The Georgia-born singer-songwriter will celebrate the new partnership with a new track, “Whiskey In Me,” releasing September 16.

Whitley says, “After seeing how hyped the room was after my team at TruMuzik and I met with DARE Records, I knew they were the ones to help recreate that same reaction with the fans. Their energy and excitement about getting the song out matched mine, and that’s a huge deal when deciding to partner up at this level. We could tell we really had something! I’m just excited to give the world a chance to hear this new song and I’m pumped to have DARE Records on board to help make that possible and in a bigger way than ever before!”

Hailing from rural GA, Nashville-based Whitley’s music is a tapestry of elements and sounds as versatile and diverse as his own journey. His exurban hometown of Monroe, GA is nestled between a college town, Athens, GA, and the bustling metropolis of Atlanta. As a result, his musical influences are varied and rich: elements of rock, blues, and country are woven together, resulting in a unique sound that lends itself seamlessly to the newly diversified and modern country music landscape.

Taylor says, “Brandon Whitley’s ‘Whiskey In Me’ had me at the drop of that undeniable hook: ‘I just wanna love you!’ Having lived in Music City myself, and felt the pulse of the hottest in country music being created and released, I knew instantly that this song is a bona fide, Nashville-birthed hit! And not to mention… that voice!”

Whitley co-wrote “Whiskey In Me” with Autumn Marie Buysse and Chase McDaniel. The song was recorded at Saxman Studios in Nashville with Grady Saxman (Luke Combs) on drums, Devin Malone on acoustic guitar, Sol Philcox-Littlefield (Luke Combs) on electric guitar, Luke Moseley on keys, and Lee Francis (Jon Pardi) on bass.

INGRID ANDRESS PREMIERES “FEEL LIKE THIS” MUSIC VIDEO

Celebrated singer/songwriter Ingrid Andress has released the cinematic music video for her optimistic “Feel Like This” (WATCH HERE), premiering across all MTV & CMT platforms this morning. Directed by Olivia Bee, the clip portrays the dichotomy between a toxic former flame and healthy new love. Highlighted as a New Release Spotlight on Facebook, V Magazine is also sharing an exclusive behind the scenes look from the video shoot, including multiple never before seen photos (READ HERE).

With its “knockout of an opening line” (Consequence of Sound), “Feel Like This” was co-written by Julia Michaels and made its TV debut recently on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! (WATCH HERE). “Getting to work with Julia Michaels for the first time and realizing that we are literally the same person was awesome,” she explained in a recent Variety interview profile (READ HERE). “It was actually a beautiful, magical day. We were both falling in love with people at the same time, and I feel like we really captured that.”

“Feel Like This” is one of thirteen brand new songs featured on the 3x GRAMMY-nominee’s latest release, Good Person, where Andress returns to the reflection and confession at the core of her acclaimed debut, Lady Like, and plumbs even deeper (LISTEN HERE). In the co-producer’s chair once again (alongside Sam Ellis, who played the same role on Lady Like), Andress pushed for bold, experimental sounds that blended banjos with vocoders; swung from sweeping orchestration to spare, acoustic-based arrangements; and showcased previously unexplored parts of her vocal range.

Hailed by The New York Times as “a Nashville outsider who paved her own way in” (READ HERE), Andress also co-wrote every track, including her current Gold-certified single, “Wishful Drinking (with Sam Hunt),” as well as the album’s title-track that she performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon earlier this summer (WATCH HERE). Additional album standouts include the “stunning piano ballad” (Billboard) “Blue,” the genre-pushing power ballad, “Seeing Someone Else,” which explores the complexities and consequences that arise with self-growth and evolution and the explosive “Pain,” as seen on Late Night with Seth Meyers (WATCH HERE).

Good Person sees Andress entering the next chapter of her career following her record-breaking debut, Lady Like, named “one of the year’s strongest albums” by Associated Press and one of Billboard’s Top 10 Best Country Albums of 2020. The celebrated LP scored Andress three GRAMMY nominations including Best New Artist, Best Country Album and Best Country Song for the multi-platinum No. 1 radio single “More Hearts Than Mine.” She is also a 4x ACM Award, 3x CMA Award and 2x CMT Music Award nominee.

With nearly one billion global streams and fans spanning the globe, Andress is currently on the road now with Keith Urban for his 52-date North American “The Speed of Now World Tour.”

COUNTRY MUSIC LEGENDS TO GUEST-STAR ON THE FIRST SEASON OF FOX’S UPCOMING DRAMA SERIES, “MONARCH”

MONARCH Stars Anna Friel, Trace Adkins, Joshua Sasse, Beth Ditto and Susan Sarandon

COUNTRY SUPERSTARS SHANIA TWAIN, MARTINA McBRIDE, LITTLE BIG TOWN AND TANYA TUCKER
TO MAKE SPECIAL APPEARANCES THROUGHOUT THE PREMIERE SEASON

MONARCH, the upcoming Texas-sized, multi-generational musical drama about America’s leading family of country music, starring Academy Award winner Susan Sarandon (“Feud,” “Thelma & Louise”), multi-Platinum country music star and three-time Academy of Country Music (ACM) Award winner Trace Adkins (“Old Henry”) and Golden Globe nominee Anna Friel (“Pushing Daisies”) also will include special appearances by some of the most legendary names in country music today.  Grammy Award winner Shania Twain, multi-Grammy Award nominee Martina McBride, Grammy Award winners Little Big Town and Grammy Award winner Tanya Tucker are set to guest-star throughout the season.

Watch/Share the all-new trailer for MONARCH, featuring a first look at these country superstars’ guest appearances: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNaImsJ3Khk

MONARCH debuts with a special two-night event, beginning Sunday, Sept. 11, immediately following the FOX NFL doubleheader (8:00-9:00 PM ET, and simultaneously to all time zones). It then makes its time period premiere Tuesday, Sept. 20 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), following the Season Six debut of THE RESIDENT (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT).

In MONARCH, the Roman family is headed by the insanely talented, but tough-as-nails Queen of Country Music DOTTIE CANTRELL ROMAN (Sarandon) and her beloved husband, “Texas Truthteller” ALBIE ROMAN (Adkins). Dottie and Albie have created a country music dynasty. But even though the Roman name is synonymous with authenticity, the very foundation of their success is a lie. And when their reign as country royalty is put in jeopardy, heir to the crown NICOLETTE “NICKY” ROMAN (Friel) will stop at nothing to protect her family’s legacy, while ensuring her own quest for stardom.

Middle child LUKE ROMAN (Joshua Sasse, “Galavant”) is the CEO of the family’s business, Monarch Entertainment. Luke is the apple of his mother’s eye, but he has a troubled relationship with his father, whose approval he can never get, no matter how hard he tries. Youngest daughter GIGI TUCKER-ROMAN (singer/songwriter Beth Ditto, “On Becoming a God in Central Florida”) is very close to her older brother and sister, but in a family of superstars, Gigi has always felt like a bit of an outcast, in spite of her incredible singing voice. Gigi is married to KAYLA ROMAN-TUCKER (Meagan Holder, “Dave,” “Pitch”), a successful music manager who keeps turning down Luke’s offers to join forces with the family company. Outside business, Kayla’s relationships with the Romans reflect a complicated history, and a secret she is keeping could destroy her marriage to Gigi. ACE GRAYSON (Hollywood newcomer and Filipino recording artist Inigo Pascual) also is part of the family. He is a talented and sensitive 18-year-old who was adopted from an orphanage by Nicky and her husband, struggling British actor CLIVE GRAYSON (guest star Adam Croasdell, “Preacher,” “Reign”). Ace is a phenomenal singer with real swagger on stage, and dreams of being a country star like his Grandpa Albie. And just when the Romans’ world couldn’t get more chaotic, enter CATT PHOENIX (Martha Higareda, “Into The Dark: Culture Shock”), the stunning and unpredictable mother of 17-year-old ANA PHOENIX (Emma Milani, “Solve”), a talented, wide-eyed young singer who is trying to get signed to the Roman family’s record label.

MONARCH is 100% owned and produced by FOX Entertainment. Screenwriter Melissa London Hilfers serves as creator, writer and executive producer. Jon Harmon Feldman (“Designated Survivor”) serves as executive producer and showrunner. Gail Berman and Hend Baghdady (The Jackal Group), Michael Rauch (“Instinct,” “Royal Pains”) and top music manager Jason Owen (Sandbox Entertainment) also serve as executive producers. Jason Ensler (“The Passage”) directed the series premiere, on which he also served as an executive producer. The series will feature original music and covers.

ERIC CHURCH RELEASES CHURCH CHOIR-EXCLUSIVE & ALBUM TO THE PUBLIC

Middle Installment From Three-Part Heart & Soul Project
Features Current Single “
Doing Life With Me

Having recently celebrated the first anniversary of his ambitiously groundbreaking Heart & Soultriple album release, Eric Church fans everywhere can now enjoy the middle installment of the project, with the album previously available only to the Church Choir now offered publicly HERE via standard CD, black vinyl and digital platforms.

“Small but mighty, the six-song collection simmers on vulnerable hits,” praises Entertainment Weekly of the Jay Joyce-produced project, with The Wall Street Journal celebrating Church as “knowledgeable and respectful of Country’s history, but not shackled by it” and Forbes acknowledging his penchant for “super-serving his loyal Church Choir crowd.”

Like chart-topping bookends Heart and Soul& is the result of the famed marathon session Church spent sequestered in rural North Carolina, writing and recording a song from start to finish each day for nearly a month. In addition to earning massive critical acclaim and a Best Country Solo Performance GRAMMY nomination, the initial trifecta release also made waves atop the Billboard charts. Church replaced himself atop the all-genre Top Album Sales chart in back-to-back weeks, with all three albums landing in the Top 10 concurrently and Church becoming the first country artist to simultaneously occupy the two top spots on the Billboard Vinyl Albums chart since its inception in 2011, with Soul and respectively.

As well as the poignant “Through My Ray Bans,” dedicated to the fans he played for at Route 91 Harvest Country Music Festival, the album also features four new-to-the-public songs – “Do Side,” “Kiss Her Goodbye,” “Mad Man” and “Lone Wolf” – plus the 2020 CMA Entertainer of the Year’s latest single, “Doing Life With Me.”

Written by Church together with Casey Beathard (“Mr. Misunderstood,” “Hell Of A View”) and Jeffrey Steele (“Stick That In Your Country Song”), the reflective song sees Church expressing gratitude for those by his side through the journey of a musical career:

        I don’t pray much anymore
        For this old troubadour’s
        Happiness, wishes, wants and needs
End of my ropes, hopes and dreams
        Spend my livin’ giving thanks
For the ships I never sank
Every big, every little in the everyday things
The notes and the words and the songs I sing
To the ones doing life with me

RITA WILSON ANNOUNCES NEW SUPERSTAR DUETS ALBUM RITA WILSON NOW & FOVEVER: DUETS

A COLLECTION OF TIMELESS SONGS FROM THE SEVENTIES FEATURING ICONIC ARTISTS INCLUDING WILLIE NELSON, SMOKEY ROBINSON, JACKSON BROWNE, TIM MCGRAW, ELVIS COSTELLO, KEITH URBAN, LESLIE ODOM JR, JOSH GROBAN, VINCE GILL AND JIMMIE ALLEN

With her breathtaking new album Rita Wilson Now & Forever: Duets, Rita Wilson solidifies her place as a major force in today’s musical landscape. Her fifth studio album, Rita Wilson Now & Forever: Duets was co-produced by Rita and GRAMMY Award-winning producer Matt Rollings and will be released on September 27th. The project sees Wilson return to exploring her gift as an interpretive singer, as she revisits the songs that made her fall in love with music. A collection of classic, timeless songs from the Seventies, each track has been newly and lovingly arranged as a duet showcasing Rita’s crystalline vocals alongside some of the greatest male singers of our time spanning genres including pop, country and rock. Pre-order the album HERE.

A set of true modern standards, Rita Wilson Now & Forever: Duets sees Rita singing alongside giants including WILLIE NELSON, SMOKEY ROBINSON, JACKSON BROWNE, TIM MCGRAW, ELVIS COSTELLO, KEITH URBAN, LESLIE ODOM JR, JOSH GROBAN, VINCE GILL AND JIMMIE ALLEN, illustrating the high regard in which she is held by her peers.

For Wilson the album is a tribute to the songs that made her discover music, and the melodies and stories that defined a generation. “I wanted to honor where I came from with songs from the Seventies,” she says. “It was really about showing enormous appreciation for the songwriting of that period—how these songs are still relevant even though they’re fifty years old.” Rita adds, “This album is really a continuation of sharing who I am musically, and what it is that I want to say.”

The project is an idea that Wilson had been considering for several years.  When the pandemic shut down the world, she reached out to producer Matt Rollings, hoping that musicians spending time off the road would be longing to make music. “And that’s exactly what happened,” she says. “It all fell together incredibly smoothly.”

The first single to be unveiled from the album was Fleetwood Mac’s classic “Songbird” with Josh Groban. Upon its release, A Taste of Country raved, “Wilson and Groban don’t crowd the song with lots of instruments, opting to keep it simple… their two voices wrap delicately around one another as if the listener has stumbled across a private moment between lovers.” Watch Rita and Josh perform “Songbird” live on stage captured at New York City’s famed Radio City Music Hall earlier this year HERE, and listen to the single HERE.

The first person to jump on board the project was no less than Willie Nelson, for a version of Paul Simon’s “Slip Slidin’ Away.” Others followed, including Smokey Robinson, with an impassioned rendition of Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway’s “Where is the Love,” a blistering vocal from Elvis Costello on Bruce Springsteen’s “Fire” (popularized by the Pointer Sisters), and a majestic performance on “Massachusetts” by Leslie Odom, Jr. The album also includes not-to-be-missed, inspired interpretations of the stirring Van Morrison track “Crazy Love” with Keith Urban, the moving ballad “If” with Tim McGraw (originally performed by Bread), the Jackson 5’s “I’ll Be There” with Jimmie Allen and Badfinger’s “Without You” with Vince Gill (also covered by Harry Nillson). Watch Rita and Jackson Browne team up on The Everly Brothers classic, “Let It Be Me” HERE.   See below for complete tracklisting.

Rita has established herself as a prolific, authentic, and widely admired singer/songwriter who has fully immersed herself in her passion for music. Upon the release of her debut album, The New York Times raved about her “recapturing the spirit of that California sound” and that “she writes in a voice that is mature and forthright,” and later commented on the “catch in her voice that conveys yearning.” She’s released four studio albums, a series of three inter-connected EP’s entitled Trilogy, and a steady flow of singles includes the moving, “Everybody Cries,” from the film The Outpost, which won the Hollywood Music in Media Award for Outstanding Song for Independent Film. Her music has been hailed as “inspiring” by Rolling Stone, “uplifting” by USA Today, and “powerful” by Newsweek among other accolades. She has performed on some of the world’s greatest stages—the Grand Ole Opry, Walt Disney Concert Hall, The Ryman and the Sydney Opera House to name a few. Now a festival fixture, she has appeared at Stagecoach, Tortuga and CMA Fest among many others.

Her additional notable collaborations include the single “PINK,” with Dolly Parton, Monica, Sara Evans, and Jordin Sparks, guest vocals on the GRAMMY-nominated Blues Traveler album covering the Gnarls Barkley hit “Crazy,” and her infectious, viral turn on Naughty By Nature’s “Hip Hop Hooray” during lockdown. Rita has written with some of the top songwriters in the business, including Lindy Robbins (Demi Lovato), Liz Rose (Taylor Swift, Chris Stapleton), Nathan Chapman (Keith Urban, Taylor Swift), Kara DioGuardi (Kelly Clarkson, Pink), Mozella (Miley Cyrus, Pink) and Kristian Bush of Sugarland (who she also toured with).

SUNNY SWEENEY IS JOINED BY VINCE GILL FOR DEVASTATING NEW SONG “MARRIED ALONE”

From upcoming album Married Alone, out September 23rd via Thirty Tigers

When Sunny Sweeney’s trusted friend sent her a demo of “Married Alone” in April of 2019, she immediately, deeply connected with the song. “I was coming out of a sticky divorce, and all the feelings were still so raw,” she remembers. “I felt the words, not just heard them.” The weaving, waltzing number is a classic country dagger to the heart made even more lonesome with the addition of guest vocalist Vince Gill. “My initial instinct was to have a male feature, and my mind immediately went to Vince,” says Sweeney. “I then committed to him in my mind, and thought if he was unavailable, then I would just do it alone.” The pair of voices singing the chorus—“There may be rings on our fingers, but we’re married alone”—reflect the beautiful misery captured in the song’s message, adding it to the list of all-time-great heartbreak songs. “I am eternally grateful to [Vince] for lending his gorgeous voice to this, as I feel like it pushed it to another level,” she says.

“Married Alone” is the title track from Sweeney’s upcoming album—produced by Paul Cauthen and The Texas Gentlemen’s Beau Bedford, out September 23rd via Thirty Tigers.
