Country music artists have always been supportive of law enforcement and community charities and Christmas Cops & Country Music is no exception. The benefit concert event, taking place at The Nashville Palace on Tuesday, December 6th, will bring 80s and 90s artists together to raise money, and awareness, and collect unwrapped Christmas gifts for Law Enforcement Assistance Partnership (LEAP). “Everyone knows that I love country music and I know these artists love our chicken,” says Gus Arrendale of Springer Mountain Farms Chicken, the presenting sponsor of Christmas Cops & Country Music. “Anytime I get an opportunity to help our first responders and especially law enforcement, I am happy to support those efforts.”
Terri Gibbs, the “Somebody’s Knockin’” singer and CMA and ACM award winner, will make her first appearance on a Nashville stage in 20 years in support of the event. “I have not performed in Nashville since Twitty City and I am excited to come back and be part of this benefit show,” added Gibbs.
In addition to Gibbs, 70s yacht rock crooner John Ford Coley (of England Dan & John Ford Coley) and late 90s hitmaker Andy Griggs will join the already stellar lineup of 80s and 90s artists that include Michelle Wright, John Conlee, Shenandoah’s Marty Raybon, McBride & the Ride’s Terry McBride, T. Graham Brown, Ronnie McDowell, and David Frizzell.
“The first concert event that took place earlier this year in May to honor fallen officer and country music star Jeff Carson completely exceeded what we ever could have imagined,” says LEAP President Diane Wilhoit. “We were able to provide scholarships and purchase air units for police officers to use under their protective gear during the height of the summer. Now, we are collecting Christmas toys and gifts for families that might not get a visit from Santa. It is amazing to see the outpouring of support from everyone helping our community.”
