Brent Cobb & Amy Ray to Host 9th Annual Benefit Concert on May 10 to Raise Funds for Georgia School Music Programs

The “9th Annual Gretsch Presents Georgia on My Mind” benefit concert, hosted by Brent Cobb and Indigo Girls’ Amy Ray, returns to the historic Ryman Auditorium on Tuesday, May 10 with performances by Amy Grant, Amythyst Kiah, Alison Brown, Ben Chapman, Butch Walker, Channing Wilson, Charlie Starr, Elizabeth Cook, John Driskell Hopkins, Jontavious Willis, Katie Pruitt, Kevn Kinney, Kristina Murray, The Lone Bellow, O.N.E The Duo and Patterson Hood. World-class musicians Josh Day, Brian Allen, Scott Patton, Jeff Fielder, and Adrian Carter will anchor the house band for the show, with proceeds benefiting Georgia Music Foundation and its Georgia Music Grants, which fund music programs at schools, after-school programs and summer camps. Cobb and Ray — both previous “Georgia On My Mind” performers — inherited the hosting mantle from the Peach Pickers (Rhett Akins, Dallas Davidson and Ben Hayslip) in 2020, but hosted the last two years’ benefit shows virtually, due to Covid. The May 10th concert will mark the event’s jubilant return to the Mother Church of Country Music.

Says Cobb, “I can’t wait to get on the Ryman stage with Amy and a bunch of our friends to make music in honor of Georgia and all its musicians who came before us.” Ray adds, “This show is a very special offering of some of our state’s finest artists and some of our neighbors, all bringing their gifts together to help us raise money for the Georgia Music Foundation.”

Stringonometry, an accomplished bluegrass band featuring four high school seniors from Thomasville, GA, will highlight the power of music education with a performance on the Ryman’s PNC Plaza ahead of the show (5:30 to 7 p.m.).

The Georgia Music Foundation, a non-profit organization, has awarded nearly $600,000 in Georgia Music Grants since the first “Georgia On My Mind” in 2014. Executive Director Lisa Love says, “We see value in coming to Nashville — a sales mission, if you will — to acknowledge and celebrate the musicians and songwriters from Georgia who have long had such an impact on American music. To create a Georgia sense of place inside the Ryman is already special, but to be able to do it help fund music education for future generations is golden.”
