FLORAMAY HOLLIDAY RELEASES “HEARTS HAVE WINGS”
The critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Floramay Holliday is set to releases the single “Hearts Have Wings,” her first new music in almost fourteen years, on February 16. The track is the first glimpse off her forthcoming, still untitled, EP, that she will be releasing later this year in collaboration with celebrated producer, Will Holland (Pixies, Dead Can Dance), and recorded at Chillhouse Studios in Boston, MA with an amazing line-up of some of New England’s most prolific musicians. The legendary songstress has worked with legends such as Willie Nelson, Ray Benson, and Guy Clark, and Mayor Kirk Watson declared “Floramay Holliday Day” in Austin, to honor her accomplishments and contributions. Her self-titled debut album, on Roseneath Records, was recommended for nomination in the 42nd annual Grammy Awards, and opened the door to her global success. With Floramay’s highly anticipated new single, “Hearts Have Wings ” her musical diversity, sultry vocals and impeccable songwriting skills are all on full display here, and the results are nothing short of exquisite.
“Working on this song reminded me of why I got into music in the first place and why I should keep pushing. I’ve been inspired to write a lot lately, and feel the need to record and share a positive message. This song was inspired by a longing to go home to South Carolina to see my mother during a difficult time, and producer Will Holland and his all-star assembly of musicians truly captured this feeling, ” Floramay says.
On ‘”Hearts Have Wings,” Will Holland enlisted Paul Wolsencroft (Slightly Stoopid, Organically Good Trio), Tommy Benedetti (John Brown’s Body, Dub Apocalypse) and Nate Edgar (The Nth Power, John Brown’s body), as Floramay’s backing band, and recorded the song at Chillhouse Studios in Charlestown, MA. The vocals were recorded by Jim King at The Kessler Sound Studios in Dallas Texas. “Hearts Have Wings” provides testament to the fact that Floramay is a seasoned writer and performer who continues to astound, and that her fourteen year recording hiatus only served to make this moment even sweeter.
