COUNTRY-POP TRIO JUST JAYNE EASE THE PAIN OF HEARTBREAK ON STUNNING NEW SINGLE “1+1”

All-female Nashville-based trio Just Jayne recently shared their timeless new single “1+1.” Propelled by their softly stunning harmonies, “1+1” further proves Just Jayne’s power to transform deep heartbreak into country-pop perfection.

“We wrote this song about a relationship that just doesn’t add up —a love that could’ve been simple and easy, but instead it’s messy and complicated,” says Just Jayne. “He falls short, leaves you feeling small — and in the end, there’s nothing you can do to save it.”

Produced by Jordan Reynolds (a GRAMMY-winning producer/songwriter/musician who’s also worked with Carrie Underwood, Dan + Shay, and many more), “1+1” embodies a classic country simplicity and centers on the lush and lovely vocals of singer/songwriters Taylor Edwards, Jillian Steele, and Rachel Wiggins. In a first-rate example of their sophisticated songcraft, the sweetly lilting track casts a sublime and gorgeous spell even as it captures the immense pain of heartache.

Co-written by Just Jayne with Reynolds and Ines Dunn, “1+1” beautifully showcases the trio’s signature brand of lived-in but poetic storytelling. After looking back on a relationship’s whirlwind beginning (“It was classic fatal attraction…It was a car crash waiting to happen”), the song drifts into a chorus colored with both clarity and longing (“I coulda been yours and you coulda been mine/But the sun don’t pour and the rain don’t shine/It don’t add up when it’s said and done/Me plus you ain’t 1+1”). As “1+1” rides along on a gently thumping rhythm, tender pedal steel tones and delicate banjo riffs intensify the heavy-hearted mood of Just Jayne’s outpouring (from the second verse: “Now it’s me plus a bottle of red wine/’Cause it’s you plus somebody else”). By the time the track closes out, Just Jayne have cycled through regret, sorrow, and quiet frustration (e.g., “Look at you go, like a man on the run/Makin’ grown girls cry, makin’ smart girls dumb”), ultimately arriving at a state of wistful acceptance.

The follow-up to “Breathe” (an August release that landed on Holler’s “Best New Country Songs” playlist), “1+1” is the latest in a series of heart-stirring singles from Just Jayne, including “The Way We Were” (hailed by Celeb Secrets as a “nostalgic rom-com wrapped in dreamy harmonies and country-pop sparkle”), the anthemic “All Backroads,” the bittersweet “New Boots,” and their clever yet poignant debut release “This Morning” (a post-breakup reflection written in response to Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night” and penned from the female point-of-view).

Now at work on more new music, Just Jayne spent much of the summer on the road, including select dates supporting country superstars Billy Currington and Tyler Hubbard. Known for an unforgettable live show that often finds audience members singing along to every word, Just Jayne’s recent touring experience also includes opening for Maddie & Tae on their Love & Light Tour in spring 2025.
