Giving fans a look behind the hits and headlines, Grammy-award winning singer-songwriter RODNEY CROWELL has officially released WORD FOR WORD, his long-awaited and gorgeously illustrated new book.
Now available everywhere books are sold, the intimate portrait of a true American original celebrates a career like no other, collecting 150 of Crowell’s most impactful songs in a collector-sized compilation of lyrical poetry and artwork.
Featuring 50 pages of prose from Crowell’s own pen, plus vibrant photos and handwritten lyrics, the legendary roots music troubadour describes his early days in Nashville – and the backstory of selected songs – tracing the path of his remarkable career with signature insight, humor, and larger-than-life storytelling.

Meanwhile, such a unique book requires a unique set of events in celebration, and Crowell kicked things off with a special treat for fans on Tuesday (9/13). Hosting longtime friend and creative partner Emmylou Harris for a wide-ranging virtual conversation, the legendary pair explored the genesis of WORD FOR WORD during an event co-hosted by a group of independent booksellers (Gramercy Books, in Columbus, Ohio; Willow Bookshop in Houston, Texas; Bookends & Beginnings in Evanston, Illinois; and Literati in Ann Arbor, Michigan), and Crowell has much more in store.

Starting next week, the master craftsman will embark on an extensive tour of music and memories, beginning with a hometown book signing event at Nashville’s Parnassus Books on September 23. From there he’ll visit more than a dozen cities across the nation – including Kansas City, Baton Rouge, Austin, Dallas, Houston and more – as the Word for Word Tour stretches into early 2023.
About Rodney Crowell: 
With more than 40 years of American roots music under his belt, Texas native RODNEY CROWELL is a two-time Grammy Award winner who has written fifteen #1s with five Number One hits of his own and a legacy of songwriting excellence. A member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, Crowell is also the author of the acclaimed memoir, Chinaberry Sidewalks, and teamed up with New York Times best-selling author Mary Karr for Kin: Songs by Mary Karr & Rodney Crowell in 2012. Crowell was honored with ASCAP’s prestigious Founder’s Award in 2017, and that same year released the album Close Ties, which spawned another Grammy nomination for “It Ain’t Over Yet” with Rosanne Cash and John Paul White in the category of Best Americana Song. In 2018, he opened his own record label, RC1 Records, and released his Acoustic Classics project. Also released on RC1, 2019’s Texas is a collection of Lone Star-centric collaborations with Ringo Starr, Willie Nelson, Ronnie Dunn, Steve Earle and more, and Crowell’s most recent album, Triage, in 2021. All Season, New Songs from “MONARCH” Will be Released the Friday Before Each New Episode Premieres

Arista Records/Monument Records, the official music partner of FOX Entertainment’s highly anticipated new series, MONARCH – a new country music drama about America’s leading family of country music – has released the show’s first EP that includes tracks from this Sunday’s premiere.  The EP includes original track “The Brambles,” performed by the MONARCH Cast, featuring multi-Platinum country music star and three-time Academy of Country Music (ACM) Award winner Trace Adkins (“Old Henry”) and Golden Globe nominee Anna Friel (“Pushing Daisies”), as well as covers of country classics including “Family Tradition,” performed by MONARCH cast members Friel, Beth Ditto, Inigo Pascual, Joshua Sasse; “Good Hearted Woman,” performed by Adkins; and “How Do I Live,” performed by Friel and Ditto.

The songs were produced by three-time GRAMMY Award nominee and series executive music producer Adam Anders and co-produced by Peer Åström. The EP’s original track, “The Brambles” was written by Adam Anders, Tom Douglas and Jordan Shellhart.  Listen to the EP HERE.

The new music follows the release of a number of tracks from the show, including “American Cowgirl,” performed by Friel, a cover of “A Country Boy Can Survive” by Adkins, as well as the show’s theme song, “The Card You Gamble,” performed by powerhouse vocalist Caitlyn Smith. The series will feature many original songs and covers performed by cast members and upcoming guest stars.

MONARCH debuts with a special two-night event, beginning Sunday, Sept. 11, immediately following the FOX NFL doubleheader (8:00-9:00 PM ET, and simultaneously to all time zones). It then makes its time period premiere Tuesday, Sept. 20 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), following the Season Six debut of THE RESIDENT (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT).

Country artist Brit Taylor’s highly anticipated new single, “Cabin in the Woods,” and video premiered yesterday on Wide Open Country and is available everywhere now.  Produced by Grammy winners Sturgill Simpson and David “Fergie” Ferguson, the not-quite-bluegrass and somewhere-left-of-country-center song is an invitation to join Taylor on a drive back to her East Kentucky roots.  It’s a foot-stompin’, hillbilly revival about loving the simple things in life and having friends along for the ride.

Released by Taylor’s Cut a Shine Records in collaboration with Thirty Tigers, “Cabin in the Woods” is an upbeat tune with a healthy dose of swagger. The mountain fiddle, twangy banjo, funky organ, slinky bass and drum groove take the listener back to better times while also transporting them to a far-out future on some front porch of a cabin where everyone gets along and only drinks the good stuff.

“ ‘Cabin in the Woods’ was written with a light, happy heart and deep gratitude that I had survived some rough times and my house was finally my own,” Taylor said.  “I didn’t have to fear losing it anymore.  I had started dating again and seeing friends. I loved sitting on my porch and seeing cars come down the driveway, just having people over to my place to sit around the fire with my dog and me, enjoying a Kentucky bourbon and some good music.”

The sensational songwriter/singer burst on the music scene two years ago with her debut album Real Me, stunning the industry almost as much as she surprised herself. With Rolling Stone’s hinting last year that Simpson and Taylor were working together, the industry and fans began a countdown for her new music.

 The Americana Music Association has announced its performers and presenters for the 21st annual Americana Honors & Awards, taking place in Nashville on Sept. 14 at the famed Ryman Auditorium.

TY HERNDON MARKS SUICIDE PREVENTION WEEK WITH OFFICIAL RELEASE OF “GOD OR THE GUN” MUSIC VIDEO

Groundbreaking Grammy-nominated and Dove Award-winning country artist Ty Herndon is bringing awareness to suicide prevention week by officially releasing his music video “God or the Gun.” Previously previewed on PEOPLE.com, this emotional video visualizes the track, available on his newest release, JACOB, chronicling Herndon’s near suicide and reminding listeners that hopes beyond the darkness. The video was filmed in Nashville and produced and directed by Neighborhoods Apart Productions. “Though God or the Gun begins at one of the lowest points I have experienced in my life, it ends with a message of hope and redemption,” said Herndon. “There’s a universal truth in this song for everyone who listens — we all have the power within us to change our endings. No one is ever truly alone. Someone is out there ready to help us. There’s nothing too big for us to handle if we simply reach out and ask when we need it most.”

Herndon burst onto the scene and made his chart debut in 1995 with “What Mattered Most,” which became his first No. 1 song and garnered a Song of the Year award (Music Row Magazine). It was also the title track to his first album, which debuted on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart and had the biggest first-week shipment in the history of Epic Records Nashville.

Between 1995 and 2002, Herndon charted 17 singles, including his three No.1s and numerous top 10 hits, such as “I Want My Goodbye Back,” “Loved Too Much,” “A Man Holding On,” and “Hands of a Working Man.” He topped the charts in 1996 with the single “Living in a Moment” and again in 1998 with “It Must Be Love.”

In 2014, Herndon became the first major male country artist to publicly come out as gay in an exclusive with People magazine. He received an outpouring of support that only strengthened his relationship with fans and the country music community, expanding his reach to new and diverse audiences. Shortly after, he made history when he hosted a first-of-its-kind country music event, The Concert for Love and Acceptance, now an annual event that provides a stage for LGBTQ and allied artists. In 2020, he created the Foundation For Love & Acceptance to further his work on behalf of LGBTQ youth.

Herndon found himself back at No. 1 in 2020 — this time on iTunes with his remake of “Orphans of God,” a collaboration with Kristin Chenoweth and Paul Cardall featured on his holiday release, Regifted. Over the last year, he has been working on the new album, JACOB, his first of all-new music since 2016’s House On Fire.

Grammy-nominated and Dove Award-winning, Herndon’s voice is stronger than ever, and he’s using it to make a difference. Country music singer-songwriter Devon Beck is releasing her new single “Homewrecker” today. “Homewrecker” follows Beck’s previously released songs, “Say To You” and “Mirrors” featured by Apple Music’s “The Ward Guenther Show” and Country music artist Jimmie Allen who named Beck an artist to watch on his Instagram New Artist Showcase. “Homewrecker” is Beck’s most personal song to date and highlights her impressive songwriting skills and soulful delivery. “‘Homewrecker’ is about my own personal experience and about two people drawn to one another, but never single at the same time. I love the twist in the lyrics because it isn’t actually what you think it’s going to be about,” said Beck.

After moving from Pennsylvania to Nashville to pursue her music career in 2019 Beck released three singles “Say To You,” “Mirrors,” “Pieces” and her debut EP One Sided Expectations. Quickly building a loyal following, she has garnered nearly 70,000 cumulative streams on Spotify and a captivating audience on TikTok. She has previously opened for some of country music’s top talent including Miranda Lambert, Maddie & Tae, Brett Young, Ernest, and more.
