BRANDON BLACKSTOCK, KELLY CLARKSON’S EX-HUSBAND AND TALENT MANAGER, DIES AT 48

Brandon Blackstock, the former husband of singer Kelly Clarkson and a well-known talent manager in the entertainment industry, has died at the age of 48 after a private battle with cancer. The news was confirmed by a representative for the family in a statement on Thursday, August 7.

“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,” the statement read. “Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”

The announcement comes just one day after Kelly Clarkson had revealed her ex-husband was ill, prompting her to postpone her remaining August dates for her Las Vegas residency. In a heartfelt message to fans, Clarkson said she needed to be “fully present” for their children, River Rose, 11, and Remington Alexander, 9.

Blackstock, who was also the former stepson of country music legend Reba McEntire, was a prominent figure in the music industry. He managed the careers of several artists, including Blake Shelton, and served as an executive producer on “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”

He and Clarkson were married for seven years before their separation in 2020. The couple’s divorce was finalized in 2022. In addition to his two children with Clarkson, Blackstock is survived by his two children from a previous marriage, Savannah and Seth.
