Adding to her repertoire of tracks dubbed by Billboard as “tailor-made for rousing live shows,” rising singer/songwriter Annie Bosko will release “Cash” on August 2, a rollicking tribute celebrating the impact of Johnny Cash, via Stone Country Records.

“Years ago, I was playing my first concert for inmates, which is an ongoing passion of mine,” shares Bosko. “I knew I was singing for the women, but I wasn’t aware I’d also be performing for the men. I didn’t really have a song repertoire for them, so I went home and started writing ‘Cash.’

“I later finished it with Griffin House, who is truly a talented poet. Both of us share a love for Johnny Cash, and out of that spirit, this song was born,” she reflects. “Johnny was such an inspiring renegade, particularly in the way he catered to those who felt forgotten.”

Written by Bosko with House and produced by Bosko with Tommy Sims, “Cash” serves as an homage to the legacy of Cash, noting the paradoxes that made the Man in Black such a compelling figure:

He’s the good, the bad, the dark and light
Every shade of gray between black and white
A walking contradiction, an angel in devil’s shoes

Never would’ve been so good if you weren’t so bad
It’s a world full of Johnny’s, but there’ll never be another Cash

Bosko’s latest offerings, “Heart Burn” ft. Dwight Yoakam and “Higher Ground” ft. Vince Gill, both landed on Rolling Stone’s all-genre “Songs You Need To Know” upon their release. In addition, the publication named her as an artist not to miss at CMA Fest, praising, “Over the years, the California cowgirl has written for Willie Nelson and provided background vocals for Darius Rucker and Adele, but she’s about to command the spotlight on her own…If you’re into Kacey Musgraves and Nineties country, you won’t want to miss Bosko’s set.”
