COUNTRY MUSIC LEGEND CLINT BLACK’S MEMOIR, KILLIN’ TIME, TO BE PUBLISHED BY HARPER INFLUENCE

Country music legend Clint Black is ready to share his remarkable life story in his forthcoming memoir, KILLIN’ TIME: My Life and Music, set for publication on May 19, 2026, by Harper Influence, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers.
Named after Black’s triple-platinum 1989 debut album, the memoir will trace his extraordinary path from a difficult childhood on the outskirts of Houston to his breakout as a country music superstar and enduring icon. With a career boasting over twenty million records sold and twenty-two number one singles, Black’s story promises an unfiltered look at the highs and lows that defined his four-decade-long journey.
Harper Influence Publisher Lisa Sharkey praised Black as “part of the fabric of America,” noting that the memoir will offer a “new appreciation for this extraordinary man and his music.” Editor Maddie Pillari added, “This is more than a musician’s memoir; it’s the definitive account of a transformative era in country music.”
Told with signature wit and candor, the book will delve into the roots of Black’s legendary career, his relentless pursuit of artistic integrity—which led him to write nearly every song he ever recorded—and the personal values that guided him. A prominent feature will be the intimate reflections on his family life, including his enduring 34-year love story and marriage with actress and singer Lisa Hartman Black.
Black, a Grammy winner and 2025 BMI Icon, shared his personal motivation for writing the book: “If my story—this crazy, 40-year rollercoaster ride, can inspire that young singer-songwriter rinsing and repeating every day, or reinforce the person struggling through a seemingly endless grind in the pursuit of a dream, well, then, I’ll know my life has made a difference.”
The deal was negotiated by Lisa Sharkey and Steve Troha and Jeff Kleinman of Folio Literary Agency. Preorders for KILLIN’ TIME are available now.
