INAUGURAL ORIGINS IMPACT AWARDS MARK FIRST-EVER AWARDS EVENT CELEBRATING BLACK AND BROWN ARTISTS IN COUNTRY MUSIC
The Origins Impact Awards celebrated the remarkable contributions of black and brown artists in country music on November 21, 2024, at the National Museum of African American Music. Presented by Origins Music Group and sponsored by Truist Wealth, SESAC, Immersive Events, Lee Henry Events, L & T Spirits, and food sponsors Original Wings and Noir, the event was a vibrant tribute to the evolving landscape of country music.
The evening commenced with a heartfelt performance by poet Tia Smedley, whose words resonated with the audience, emphasizing the importance of representation. The energy heightened as Chapel Hart took the stage, delivering two captivating songs that showcased their unique blend of traditional country and contemporary themes.
O.N.E The Duo then presented the first Origins Impact Award to Chapel Hart, recognizing their transformative impact on the country music scene. The trio’s acceptance underscored their commitment to inclusivity and authenticity within the genre.
The event continued with a special presentation to Dion Brown, President of NMAAM, for his tireless commitment to preserving the cultural influences of African American Music. The award was presented by Fredy P.
The event continued with the MC, Radio Rodd, who welcomed Leah Galván Turner and Alejandro Medina III for a stunning performance. Galván Turner later received her Origins Impact Award, presented by Angie K, for her powerful representation of Mexican American heritage in country music.
